Books

Tim Riley & Georgia Elizey's approach to altered books is one of enclosing energy in sealed minimalist sculptures. The process of choosing an existing book is psychometric in essence, looking for a particular sense of an objectís history primarily from what emanates when handled.

Normal responses are subverted by making these elements inaccessible or unknowable by enclosing in new & inappropriate ways such as: wax, concrete, glass, or rubber, sometimes allowing only a small section to be revealed. Nothing inside the books is relocated or implanted, only removed; images and part texts are revealed to expose alternate histories and memories.

Similarly with newly-created books, the idea of a strong aesthetic across senses & disciplines such as touch, smell & information is important through the use of unexpected materials so that the book, as an object retains its quality of needing to be held & handled but with a new sensibility.

Short films

Tim Riley & Georgia Elizey have a collaborative approach to film, both in the process & the mutuality of imagery & sound. The process of filming, recording, re-filming & re-recording utilizing refracted light & sound combines real-time & manipulated imagery to distort perception & effect multiple interpretations.

A non-narrative, impressionistic approach asserts the qualities of sound, shape, light and texture which deal with resonance, space, movement, simplicity, material and generative systems somewhere between stillness and movement, described as 'micro-minimalist filmmaking'.

Utilizing these elements of moving image, sonic explorations of electro-acoustic manipulated pure noise, voice, whisperings, field recordings, resourced & filmed imagery, refraction, assemblage, found objects, spoken word and text, sound decay, extended drones & minimalist movement form the basis of the live sound and film installations.
