Books

Producing a book is always an act of love or affection. The way each book is thought up, the selection of the images, the paper, its texture and quality, everything ... all these details make the book unique.

Como um bicho que engoliu o coração - like a critter that swallowed the heart is part of AMBruno's Blue collection. An overview of images of tiles present in Portuguese architecture. The word itself, tile, comes from the Arabic, azzelij (zuleycha or al, al zuléija, zulaiju al, al zulaco) which means small polished stone and was used to designate the Byzantine mosaic of the Middle East. Often, however, it relates to the word blue (Persian term lazhward, lapis lazuli). Much of Portuguese tile production is characterized by this colour, but the real origin of the word is Arabic.

there between what you see and what is hidden was shown in AMBruno's Surfaces: Works on paper exhibition at the Sput+Nik Gallery, Porto, 2012. In a façade society painted in pink color, there between what you see and what is hidden lies the violence against non-human species, against the difference. The colour of blood is the colour that impresses and it lurks between domestic lives with all its strength.

Ubiquity was shown in AMBruno's Wrapped and Encased exhibition at the Wolstenholme Projects Creative Space, 2008. The content, this envelope, transported in the past, was so special to the person who received it that became a very important object. When its life as a container no longer existed, it was prepared to keep functioning in some way...
