53 books was an exhibition at Chelsea College of Arts Library, 6th to 29th January 2016, consisting of a selection of book works by AMBruno, representing their seven years of activity. |

For this exhibition, books were selected from six AMBruno book projects: Black Circle, Lines, Sixteen, Lists etc, Red, and One-fold Books. 53 books included books by Louise Atkinson, Karen Blake, Marco Calí, Sara Dell'Onze, Claire Deniau, Manya Doñaque, Kathryn Faulkner, Judy Goldhill, Altea Grau Vidal, Barbara Greene, Jane Grisewood, Rachael Hand, Danqing Huang, Ingrid Jensen, Saemi Jeon, Julie Johnstone, Lydia Julien, Katarina Kelsey, Sharon Kivland, Philip Lee, Sophie Loss, John McDowall, Valérie Mary, Sumi Perera, Steve Perfect, Shelley Rae, Peter Rapp, Anne Rook, and Cally Trench. Short talks and a tour of 53 books with some of the participating artists took place on Wednesday 27th January 2016, introducing AMBruno, its history and method of operation, including an explanation of the exhibition's title and the relation of Georges Perec's work (53 Days in particular) to artists' books.
